What is Islam?

FlowerAs Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) is the last messenger to mankind  until the Day of Resurrection, God has given him an everlasting miracle as a  supporting proof. The Quran, the miracle of this age, is a book that remains in  our hands, open for all to examine its contents. The Quran is the actual word  of God. It was revealed to Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) by angel Gabriel, 1400 years  ago, in successive portions. It is utterly preserved to this day and will  remain so till the Judgement; a command set in the Quran. This would have to be  the case, if indeed it was the last message.

"And  unto thee have We revealed the Scripture with the truth confirming whatever  Scripture was before it, and a watcher over it."
(Quran 5:48)

"Lo!  We: It is We who have revealed the Reminder (Quran), and lo! We will guard it."
(Quran 15:9)

"Lo!  We have revealed the Scripture unto thee with truth; so worship God, making  religion pure for Him only. Surely pure religion is for God only."
(Quran 39:2-3)

MoonThe Quran is neither prose nor poetry, unique and  inimitable, yet simple enough for the illiterate to understand. Indeed, a  challenge is set for all time, calling on mankind to produce even a single  chapter like that of the Quran- the smallest chapter being three lines long.

"And if you are in doubt concerning that which We reveal unto our slave, then produce a chapter of the like thereof, and call your witnesses beside God if you are truthful. "
(Quran 2:23)

"Most of them follow naught  but conjecture. Assuredly conjecture can by no means take place of truth. Lo!  God is Aware of what they do. And this Quran is not such as could ever be  invented in despite of God; but it is a confirmation of that which was before  it and a full explanation of that which is decreed for mankind -  t herein is no doubt from the Lord of the  Worlds. Or they say: He has invented it? Say: Then bring a chapter like unto  it, and call for help on all you can besides God, if you are truthful."
(Quran 10:37-39)

HandGod in His Wisdom has not left those whom cannot  comprehend the nature of its' Arabic (the language of the Quran) to believe in  blind faith. Indeed the Quran speaks of matters, some of which have only been  ascertained recently with advancing science. For example, scientists have only  recently deduced that the universe originated from gaseous particles; and that  the universe was one mass that was subsequently split up; and the existence of  the orbits of the sun and moon; and that the universe is expanding; and the  precise order of events in the womb; and that every living thing was created  out of water.

"Do the unbelievers not see  that the heavens and the earth were joined together, then We clove them  asunder, and We made every living thing out of water? Will they not then  believe?"
(Quran 21:30)

MoonIn  an age where man prefers to view reality through science, we find however, that  science and religion are compatible. Should not God know what and how He  creates?

"We shall show them Our  signs in the universe and within themselves until it will be manifest unto them  that this is the Truth. Does not thy Lord suffice, since He is witness over all  things?"
(Quran 41:53)

"Those who have been given knowledge see that what is revealed unto  thee from thy Lord is the Truth."
(Quran 34:6)
